STUDIO POLICIES & PROCEDURES
Thank you for checking out our studio policies and procedures. Below you'll find more need to know information about the studio, what to expect from sessions, and how to handle payments, cancellations, etc.
WHAT DO WE DO IN A VOICE SESSION?
Voice sessions vary from singer to singer based on their particular goals and preferences. However, here are a few standard things to expect from any vocal session I host:
- A physical and vocal warm up
- Individually designed vocal technique exercises for your specific goals
- Application of technique to a song of your choosing (I can also help with song selection if needed)
- Discussion of concepts, Q&A, and space to unpack any other thoughts or concerns you might have surrounding your voice
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ME
- A safe, positive, & respectful environment (whether virtual or in person) to explore your voice
- 20+ years of singing & performance training/experience made practically available for your goals
- Direction for sourcing music & additional tools, resources, applications, etc.
- Clear communication around studio policies, news, & invoicing
WHAT I EXPECT FROM SINGERS
- A willingness to explore your voice with curiosity and compassion
- A recognition that the amount of work and interest you invest will greatly impact your results
- Clear and timely communication around session bookings and cancellations (see policy below)
STUDIO LOCATION
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, I currently host vocal sessions virtually from my cozy, home studio. I provide virtual hosting through Zoom, Facetime, and Google Hangouts.
WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU TO SESSIONS
- Access to phone or computer for video chat functions
- Ample room to stand and sing comfortably at full volume (preferably without headphones)
- Pen/pencil and paper for taking notes
- Optional: water and means of recording the session
PAYMENT
Singers have two payment options:
- Advance monthly bookings are paid on the first session of the month and receive a 10% discount
- Session by session payments are due on the day of the session
Payments can be made through the online student portal, where you can keep track of invoices and other details. The online payment system is linked to my Paypal account and includes a 2.9% online processing fee.
ATTENDANCE/CANCELLATION/MAKEUP SESSIONS
Singers are asked to be prompt and show up on time--even though we are currently working virtually, please treat these sessions like any other appointment you would be showing up for in person! **There is a 24 hour cancellation policy--please make any cancellations or reschedules prior to 24 hours before your scheduled session.** There are no refunds for cancelled sessions. However, you can receive studio credit if you cancel your session with more than 24 hours notice. You can then forward that studio credit towards a make-up session.
